ANNUAL REPORT 2004
For your review and reference we present the
2004 Annual Report for the Village of Beverly
Hills Department of Public Safety. Generally,
total Calls-for-Service increased by 10.2% over
2003 requests (5,449 from 4,946). A broad overview
and discussion of the past year's activities follows.
Part A - Index Crimes are represented by Murder,
Forcible Sexual Offenses, Robbery, Aggravated
Assault, Home Invasion, Larceny, Auto Theft and
Arson. For 2004, these crimes remained unchanged
from 2003 incidents (129 vs 129). Robbery reports
increased from 1 to 3, while Aggrivated Assault
decreased from 4 to 2. Larcenies decreased by
one from 104 to 103; Stolen Vehicles decreased
from 7 to 2. Home Invasions were up from 12 to
18 reports. Statistics for these eight categories
are reported to the FBI through the State of Michigan
and are scheduled to ve published nationally in
August 2005.
Part A - Non Index crimes are represented by
Assaults, Kidnapping, Vandalism, Weapons Offenses,
Forgery/Fraud/Embezzlement, other Sex Offenses,
Narcotics, etc. For 2004, these crimes were virtually
unchanged from 2003 incidents (135 from 130).
While assaults and narcotics decreased, there
were increases in fraud and vandalism reports.
Part B crimes saw an increase in 2004 of 22.7%
from 2003 incidents (227 from 185). There were
increases in OUIL cases (from 52 to 65); other
liquor law violations dropped from 18 to 6 cases.
Disorderly reports increased from 73 to 88 and
Obstructing/Resisting Officers cases went from
4 to 3. Overall, arrests were down by 9% (335
from 368).
Total traffic accidents in the Village were up
marginally by 2.6% from 2003 crashes (350 from
341), with property damage crashes increasing
(320 from 312) and personal injury crashes increasing
for the year (30 from 29). There were no fatal
crashes in the Village in 2004.
Fire emergency calls decreased 8% in 2004 (104
from 113). There were no civilian fire fatalities
this year in the Village. Emergency Medical Calls-for-Service
increased in 2004 by 19% over 2003 requests (372
from 313).
