I.C.E.
YOUR CELL PHONE
It happens all too frequently. Officers or medics
are treating an unconscious or semiconscious person
and need to contact a relative or emergency contact
person, but who should they call. Most times the
officers start going through the victims purse
or wallet looking for identifying paperwork and
hoping to find the right person to contact. If
that person has a cell phone the officers frequently
start calling numbers to get in touch with that
right person. This all takes time and many people
may be contacted that the victim did not wish
to be contacted. What can you do to make sure
the right person is contacted without delay if
you are ever in that situation?

your cell phone.
ICE stands
for In Case
of Emergency.
To ICE your cell phone add an entry in the
contacts list or phone book of your cell phone,
and title it ICE. Insert the name(s) and phone
number(s) of the person(s) that emergency services
should call on your behalf. This will save them
a lot of time and help insure that the correct
person(s) are contacted
quickly. It only takes a few moments of your time
to do.
Paramedics and police officers know what ICE
means and they look for it immediately.
